ALL ABOUT THE EYES: OUR TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS TO ADDRESS SIGNS OF AGEING IN THE EYE AREA

From the age of twenty, collagen and elastin in our skin starts to decline. The delicate skin around our eyes is particularly susceptible to the effects of this decline, often being the first area for fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss to appear. Hollow under-eyes can also be genetic and is apparent from a young age.

Combating the signs of ageing often requires a combination of modalities to address individual concerns, and so a holistic and personalised approach is required to treat, repair and rejuvenate this area.

The eyes do more than see—they express, communicate, and connect by reflecting our emotions, however, as they start to convey fatigue we are often presented with a tired and dull appearance. Dark circles, puffiness, skin laxity and creping of the skin around the eyes can make us look older and tired, even when we are well-rested. The most important treatments in this area will be aimed at increasing the collagen and elastin in order to increase thickness and elasticity of the skin.

At Erin Aesthetics we offer several non-surgical treatments that can address your concerns with natural yet significant improvements. Our aim is to target the signs of ageing we are seeing in each individual but more importantly we are aiming to slow down the ageing process in the area.

MUSCLE RELAXATION
Injectable treatment with muscle relaxing agents is an effective way to reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes. By administering these relaxers, we can not only soften wrinkles but also open the eyes and gently lift the eyebrows for a more youthful, rested and refreshed look. Muscle relaxation is also a useful reductive/preventative treatment that will slow down the formation of static lines around the eye area, these are known as crows feet. We prefer lighter doses in this area to mildly weaken the muscle.

VOLUME REPLACEMENT
Tear trough hollowness is a common concern, and volume replacement can be an effective solution. A comprehensive approach is always taken with our registered nurses, who will assess the surrounding areas to ensure you are a candidate for this treatment. If there is a significant amount of skin laxity, herniated fat pads or general puffiness in the under eye area it is best not to use volume to address hollowness. In some instances, treatment in the cheek is needed before the tear trough can be filled to provide support in the area. For certain people using a small amount of volume in the cheek alone may provide the best result. This will all be discussed with you at consultation when our nurses have had the opportunity to assess your individual presentation.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA
PRP involves using your blood platelets to stimulate new cell growth. PRP is rich in protein growth factors that promote wound healing and increase collagen and elastin to improve skin laxity. This treatment is beneficial for patients with thin, crepey skin under the eyes or eyelids. We typically recommend a series of three treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, followed by quarterly maintenance sessions to maintain results, 6 monthly maintenance is usually enough for younger patients.

REJURAN
Rejuran is a revolutionary bio-revitalising injectable. It is a gel formation of polynucleotides, made of wild salmon DNA fragments. These DNA molecules stimulate regeneration and repair damaged skin cells while reducing unwanted inflammation. Growth factors found in Rejuran are designed to stimulate the growth of new cells and provide an environment for ideal tissue restoration. Polynucleotides can help the skin with anti-inflammatory and wound healing mechanisms which in turn stimulate the fibroblasts, thereby producing more collagen and enhancing skin health and radiance. We recommend 3 treatments approximately 1 month apart, with biannual maintenance treatments.

TIXEL
Tixel tightens and rejuvenates the skin using thermo-mechanical technology, the machine is stamped across the treatment area creating micro channels to help induce a controlled injury, the skin will go through a natural healing process resulting in new collagen stimulation. Tixel can treat fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, acne scarring, and rosacea. It is particularly effective for the delicate eye area, where it targets skin laxity and the appearance of crow’s feet. Tixel’s precision allows us to safely and effectively rejuvenate the skin to the lash line of the upper and lower eyelid, tightening skin in the whole eye area. We recommend 3 – 4 course with 6 monthly maintenance treatments.

SKIN NEEDLING WITH MESOTHERAPY
Micro-injuries created during skin needling trigger a natural process of repair, increasing the production of collagen and elastin. This visibly improves fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and evens skin tone and texture. The action of the needling itself provides physical stimulation, this activates the skin’s power of repair and regeneration. The active ingredients found in the mesotherapy cocktails available at Erin Aesthetics penetrate the micro-injuries directly, maximising the efficacy of the mesotherapy solutions. The ‘microdoses' of the mesotherapy solutions activate a higher number of skin receptors, optimising the absorption of active substances. At Erin Aesthetics we offer several different mesotherapy that your therapist can go through with you and recommend what is best for you. Details of these can be found on our website.

OUR FAVOURITE COMBINATIONS: TIXEL WITH PRP OR TIXEL WITH REJURAN
A combination of these treatments done on the same day will amplify your results and speed up the healing process. Combining treatments also enables the treatment to tailored more specifically to you. Our favourite combinations are Tixel with platelet rich plasma (PRP) and Tixel with Rejuran. When combined we are getting the rejuvenation benefits of each treatment detailed above. Each modality works in its own way therefore addressing different causes of the aging process, should it be at different layers in the skin or through different pathways of collagen and elastin degradation. Results are enhanced and downtime is reduced due to the reparative benefits of both PRP and Rejuran. Combining these will give a more superior result and likely longer lasting result.

As previously mentioned, volume replacement is not for everyone and must be assessed on presentation. If we need lift to the eyes or static lines are starting to creep in the crows feet area, we recommend several treatments of muscle relaxation treatments throughout the year.

At Erin Aesthetics we assess the concerns of ageing eyes and formulate a personalised treatment plan. During your consultation, we take the time to understand your specific needs and goals. We then tailor your treatment plan to what works best for you, that may include a combination of these treatments to target everything from fine lines to sagging skin.
